Lumaine is a beautiful young woman who has been living in the Village of Hope, the orphanage located at Mission of Hope: Haiti, since she was three years old. Now, at age eighteen, she is one of ten students from the Village of Hope who graduated from high school in 2018. Lumaine hopes to further develop her love for math by attending university to pursue a degree in accounting.
Over the past year, Lumaine has been faithfully serving in hope.market on Mission of Hope’s Titanyen campus. She is learning valuable skills in customer relations, retail sales, and service—all in an environment that cultivates discipleship and freedom in Jesus Christ. The transformation in her has been vividly evident to those she has worked and served with, and she is excited about the daily opportunities to improve her people skills while interacting with others.
"I've learned a lot of things like how to talk to people and make them feel welcomed. I have learned that serving people is not about how much money you're getting every month but about putting it all toward what you're doing so that God can get the glory.” –Lumaine
Lumaine has not only grown in her work ethic and customer service skills, but we have seen her faith and foundation of trusting in Jesus Christ be a light to our marketplace! One of her favorite songs is “Bondye se Fos nan Kè Mwen” (God is the Strength of My Heart). When talking about scripture that she lives by daily, she quotes Luke 10:19, “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.” This is her favorite verse because, "sometimes I don’t feel like I have authority over things, but then I am reminded that I do through God."
We are honored to share Lumaine’s story of life transformation with you. Would you come alongside us and pray for Lumaine as she continues to pursue God’s call on her life? Thank you!
